With Glacier National Park as our backyard, we don’t lack for outdoor recreation opportunities and Whitefish is ideally situated to take advantage of all that Northwest Montana has to offer. A brief overview of what you will find in and around our community is here to whet your appetite. We are happy to assist you in your planning.

The Whitefish Trail system has many miles of biking and hiking trails. Biking Going To The Sun Road before and after vehicular traffic opens and closes is a local favorite. There are hundreds of miles of hiking trails in Glacier National Park and Flathead National Forest. Guide services are available.

Fishing our many rivers and lakes for trout, perch, pike and bass is a popular year round adventure.

Nordic skiing, skate and classic styles, is available in and near town. Glacier Nordic Center is a popular site in the town of Whitefish. Glacier National Park’s Going-to-the-Sun Road is a beautiful setting for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

Whitefish Mountain Resort offers alpine skiing December – April. With views over the Flathead Valley and into Glacier National Park, this mountain experience will be memorable. Summer activities at the resort include Alpine Slide, Zip Lines, Walk in the Treetops, Aerial Adventure Park, scenic lift rides, mountain biking and hiking.

There are a dozen golf courses in the area including 36 holes right in town on the Whitefish Lake North and South courses.

2 Fly Us will take you up in a hot air balloon for a bird’s eye view of the valley. There are helicopter and airplane tours as well.

All water sports, including boating, jet skiing, and stand up paddle board, are available on Whitefish Lake right in town and on nearby lakes and rivers. Beach access on Whitefish Lake can be found at City Beach, Les Mason State park, and Whitefish Lake State Park. Rafting is guided by four companies located near West Glacier. Stumptown Ice Den is a block away from Good Medicine Lodge. Dog Sledding is a magical winter activity and there are easily accessible locations to accommodate you, Dog Sled Adventures and Base Camp.

In September, Whitefish hosts the Two Bear Marathon as a fundraiser for scholarships at The WAVE, our aquatics and fitness center.

After a day in our great outdoors, you may want to schedule a pampering spa session at one of our Day Spas or with one of many independent massage therapists. Day passes for The WAVE fitness center are provided to our guests.

Thank you for your warm hospitality and attention to the finer details. This is a special lodge and we definitely hope to come back!
